1851 this could be John now married.   No sign of Robert so must have died.

1851 @ looks like Workhouse Lane Tipton Staffs  ref HO 107/2029  image 54
John Stone   Head marr  40  Boiler maker    Born Tone Derbys
Mary             Wife            38                                 Higham Derbys
Jonathan       Son             4                                  Tone  Derbys
and
James Calder Son un/m   22 Blacksmith                Higham Derbys

If this is him James must be stepson Mary married before

On BMD there is Jonathan Stone's birth 1st qtr 1847 Derby Volume 19

Also a marriage for a John Stone Dec qtr 1846 Ashby de la Z ref 15. 5 to a Mary Howles I know Calder and Howles don't match up but worth keeping in mind

Pam

Thank you very much!!!!!

They do sound right from what I can gather and he has gone from a farmer to a boilermaker. Quite a change of career I would have thought.

The marriage record sounds right if Mary was married before but we don't know who the father of James Calder is. It can't be John Stone, or he would have been called Stone.

This is really fascinating.

Fantastic.

Me again tried to find John's siblings from 1841 Census these look promising.  From IGI
James Stone bap 18th nov 1814 at Burnaston Etwall Derbys
died 1870.
Parents Robert Stone and Mary Morris
James married Elizabeth no maiden name or date.

William Stone bap c 1812 Burnaston died 31 July 1866 at Burnaston buried at St Helens Church Burnaston.
Parents Robert Stone and Mary Morris
william married Frances Jerram 17th Dec 1857.

Will leave you to digest, going to bed now let me know if you require anything else and I will try to find.

Thanks for all that Pam. It does sound like the same people!

I have just found out using findmypast that a Robert Stone died in 1843 which ties in with what I have already found out. I would imagine what you found would be correct as well.
