Houghton Memorial Church,Ardwick

Looking for any information on the Houghton Memorial Church in Ardwick.
Looking at the registers on family search it is shown in the parish of St.Jerome and this would fit in with my family research.However,I would like to know a little more about it and I would appreciate its location,size and any closure date if applicable.

Thank you for finding that information for me.It looks like St.Jeromes and Houghton Memorial Church are one of the same.I will be able to research it in more detail at Manchester Local Studies.

St.Jeromes can be found on the Manchester images site, location Baden St, Ardwick

Baden St has long since gone, but the church is still there on Google street view on Ferry Street, Ardwick

on the 17Th of December 1913 the bishop of Manchester , bishop Knox consecrated the parish church of St Jerome, Ardwick known at that time as Houghton memorial church. The parish was taken out of St Silas parish of Ardwick, which itself had come out of the parish of Manchester in 1842.

T he minister for the first ten years was  Rev. S. Sidebotham and from the years 1924-1928 the Rev. H. Kershaw.
a brief history of the church is given in the Parish Magazine for December 1963. in which the church is celebrated  its 50 years

for almost thirty years (1929-1958) the Rev J. Duncan. Glover was rector of St Jerome s
 
parish magazines for the period Jan 1936 to Feb 1937 are at Manchester central library these seem the only records of the church prior  world war 2 but there are copies of the parish magazines  covering various periods from 1949 onwards.

Yes,you are right as I have my mother's baptism record of January 13th 1915 and the Rev.SIDEBOTHAM officiated.
Later in 1939 the Rev. DUNCAN does indeed conduct the marriage of my parents.
A little bit more for my research notes.
