Ah well, thats a pity. Can't find that death anywhere else, though have discovered that first cousin of Mariannes was this chap.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Beveridge

So she has a lot of connections. He is the one born in India in post 36 here.
Still looking at dorset/Salisbury, as that is where the photo turned up.

I wonder if anyone can look up the death of a Peter Beveredge Registered n Dorset aged 19 Midshipman, son of Maj Henry Beveridgie, to see if there is an address.

PM

Just from general searches, the death for the Marianne you found PM seems to show in Dunoon, Argyll with this Marianne showing a birth year c. 1887 (which is c. 5 years out but as with these things, if it is 'our' Marianne, nobody is counting!).

Her elder brother Henry's house at Martinstown near Dorchester.Given he was a captain in the Dorsets this would make sense.Built as Townfield Farm House, later Grove Hill Farm House and finally Rylstone.

Added: George, link above not working so added this without the word 'Cached' www.martinstown.co.uk/WEBSITE/VILLAGE/rylstone.htm  :)

Thank you :)

Births  FreeBMD Mar 1920
Beveridge    Ann H    Randall    Amesbury    5a   318
Births Mar 1921
Beveridge    Peter H    Rendall    Amesbury    5a   261
Beveridge    Male             Rendall    Amesbury    5a   261

Amesbury 8 miles from Salisbury

These are Marjorie and Henry's children.
Ann married J Whittington of 16 Burford Road in 1967. The Times say she is the only daughter of Mrs Beveridge and the late Major H Beveridge of Homington, Salisbury.

Henry son Of Alexander Watt Beveridge  was born on 28 Apr 1874 so six years older than sister Marianne. {FamilySearch]

Peter died in a tragic accident in 1940 according to the Times. His obit describes him as the only son.

So it looks as if Henry stayed in the area during the period 1918 until his death. Marjories brother was also in the Dorsets.
Likely death:
Henry Beveridge
Born 1874
Quarter   Oct-Nov-Dec 1957
Age    83   Salisbury

It would seem then that Marianne's niece Ann is the likely last owner of the photo.

Quite likely George, though one can never be sure! Also 67 is only 44 years back. If Ann Beveridge W  had children, they might have been the last owners... but at least we have established a plausible reason why Marianne's photo  could turn up where you found it. There is a letter to the Times from a "Mr H Beveridge" from the Martinstown address, on the subject of Classical Cobblers in 1926. Can't find a death for Ann, or birth of children so far.

Later: The regs are held in Wiltshire for the BMDs of Henry et al:
Amesbury covers a wide area - wonder if Martinstown is in it?
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/amesbury.html

Homington is further down the list

Abolished 1.4.1934 and incorporated into the parish of Coombe Bissett. See also Table 2, note (b).
