Just to clarify the costs of searching for a decree absolute, if you have to apply for a search at the Prinicipal Registry at Holborn and don't know the date or court, it will cost £60 for a 10yr search. If you know the court, the date and have the reference number, it will cost £5. if you know the court but not the date, I think their charges are £40

Thank you, unfortunately I don't have any details, but I do have the typed notes from my Dad to the solicitor detailing the reasons why he wanted to divorce, so maybe there's a date on there (Or maybe it will give me a year)

It's very expensive isn't it? Maybe I need to just let this one go as I would probably have to pay the £60.....
