'Who Married Who' (now completed - with thanks)
« on: Sunday 09 October 11 14:53 BST (UK) »
Hello

Before I order a marriage certificate I am on one of those searches to find out 'who married who'.  If anyone can help before I go to the library it would be much appreciated.

In the March quarter of 1838 in the registration district of Kensington there are unfortunately 4 brides and 4 grooms.

Vaile Margaret Susannah Dowie
Palmer Ann
Trustian Sarah Agnes
Kinton Elizabeth

Thomas Grant
John Timms
John Robert Burleton
James Smith

I am interested to know who Elizabeth Kinton married and then hopefully they can be found on the 1851 census.

The Elizabeth Kinton that was related to me was born in Essex about 1815, but this may not show on on the census information.

Many thanks
Ewan

Thank you very much Ladyhawk for your help with marriages.  So Elizabeth Kinton possibly married James Smith (oh no not another smithy  ::))

I will have access to censuses tomorrow, as for the marriage details I don't think they are online as yet.  Hopefully I will be able to find Mr and Mrs Smith  ::) on a census and then look at ordering a certificate.

Many thanks
Ewan

Would have to be SMITH wouldn't it?

1851 has 3 x James and Elizabeth Smiths in Essex

Can you narrow down birthplace?

Yes Ladyhawk that is the christening of Elizabeth you have found.  Yes msr it had to be smith, with all the other more unusual surnames it could of been one of them couldn't it.

The thing is this registration of an Elizabeth Kinton shows she was married in Kensington Middlesex, her family were there for the 1841 census, and siblings of Elizabeth after 1818 were born in Hammersmith Middlesex, one I know was married also in the Kensington registration distrct.  Msr, regarding your finds from 1851 I wonder would she have moved back to Essex with her husband, her dad came and was living in Middlesex and her mum Essex.

Hello Ewan

As you don't mention her siblings names Is this Elizabeth's parents on 1841 census?

1841 HO107; Piece 690; Book: 7; Civil Parish: Hammersmith ED: 3; Folio: 5; Page: 5
No 6 Trafalgar Street
James KINTON 55 Ag Lab.
Elizabeth 55 ‘N’
Richard 25 Ag. Lab. ‘N’
James 15 Ag. Lab.
John 12
Robert 5
‘N’ indicates not born in this county, all others born in this county

I wonder if this might just be a coincidence, or could it be Elizabeth  :-\
No 4 Trafalgar Street (same census)
1841 HO107; Piece 690; Book: 7; Civil Parish: Hammersmith  ED: 3; Folio: 5; Page: 5;

James SMITH 25 occ Brick M
Elizabeth 25 (1816) ‘N’
Robert 6
William 3
Elizabeth 1
‘N’ indicates not born in this county, all others born this county

1851 HO107; Piece: 1469; Folio: 506; Page: 18
Trafalgar Street Hammersmith
Richard KINTON 39 (1812) Essex Lab.
Julia 34
Richd 8
Maria 4
Emma 1

Another coincidence perhaps  ???
same census as above
Trafalgar Street Hammersmith (but no children)  ???

Ja (James) SMITH Head  Labourer Hammersmith Middx
Elebth (Elizabeth ?) pob (dittoed)
Ages NK (then written above looks like 40 & 35)

On 1851c there are a few children not living with any parents named Robert, William & Elizabeth Smith abt. right age but difficult to say whether these would be James & Elizabeth's children assuming that this is the right couple on 1841/1851c  ???

Hope you have some luck when you visit the library  :)
