Hi Ewan

You only have to give one name when you make an online application for a marriage cert.

Hello Ladyhawk and Dawn

Having internet problems on and off at the moment, but at the library now.

I think the family you have found on the 1841 census is the one belonging to Elizabeth Smith nee Kinton, I actally have the image of that census with Elizabeth's parents and sibling on but Elizabeth and James were on the previous page to it, the 3 children were on the grandparents page.  Thank you very much for bringing it to my attention, I would never had noticed it.

The information from the 1851 census, containing a Richard and Julia Kinton, Richard being the elder brother of Elizabeth, both baptised in Essex.

The other coincidence you spotted, well you were bang on with that, because it lists Elizabeth's mum Elizabeth Kinton aged 63 born Essex but entered on the census as Caulam, her son Robert Caulam (that is a different story/problem) aged 15 born Hammersmith, John Caulam aged 22 born Hammersmith, also the Smiths 5 other children.

Thanks for all your help, I now know 'who married who.'
Ewan
