my opinion is that this is not his occupation
I think it states "sojourn of this parish" as in "temporarily of this parish"

Many thanks for replies would i be right in thinking that Sojourn or sojourner is an old world for traveller or just someone who wasnt from the area?

Sorry for late reply just got back from staying with family for Stow Fair,i was right then ive shown my Dad this threads and the replies and hes over the moon so a big thankyou to everyone from him and myself and my family to all those that spent their time and effort reply and doing look ups  for me,its really appreciated
