Laura,
Do you have Samuel on the 1871 census? This would probably be a logical place to start as there is a possibility that if he died in 1874, he probably died close to where he was living in 1871.

Ok, I found Samuel and family in 1871 and I see he was an Innkeeper. It looks like Brandeston All Saints would be the church to start your search:

And beautiful it is too:

Genuki also gives names of nearby churches in case he is not at All Saints. Unfortunately I cannot easily see where records for All Saints are kept.

Google maps shows The Queens Head Inn, where Samuel was Innkeeper in 1871, is still there. What a lovely village Brandeston is.  :)

The little church at Brandeston is a delight and the Queen's Head is a very popular venue locally for good food.

Was walking the lanes there just a week ago with our dog  :D

Pat ...
moving from south Suffolk back home to Framlingham very soon  ;)
Every time I find an ancestor,
I have to find two more!

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham - all link to  Framlingham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally Framlingham/Parham)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert & Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith LDN - Fulker
LDN/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

GGfather Michael Wilson born Cork, lived Fulham London - moved to Boston USA 1889, what happened next?

Not been to Brandeston but have ancestors from there.

Richard Titshall and Sarah Fairweather wed there on the 11th October 1785. There is a few years missing including 1785 but the BTs survive and gave what I;d find in the registers including witnesses, which was Richard's brother William.

Sarah Fairweather was born in Brandeston in 1765.
