look up marriage and census

Hi there

can someone help with a marriage look up

Its for a david howell  on the 1881 census it has married to a

M.A Howell c 1855 cowbridge and again in the 1891 census they had a daugther Maud E Howell

the only match i can find  in earlier census is for a Elizabeth M.A. Miles born cowbridge

But i cannot find a marriage for them

mmm... difficult I see they also had a dau. Beatrice J if you can't find a marriage obtaining the birth certicate will give you her mothers maiden name

Can't see the family together on 1901c  - did parents die
there's a Maud Howell (1886) Cardiff Foster child Gwenllian Evans on 1901c

hi yes think both parents died before 1901 and think she was with Gwen

am sure thats her birth and have ordered cert of birth

but the only matching name that was born in cowbridge is the surname Miles

fingers crossed it comes back a Miles everything seems to fit
perhaps her mother was Elizabeth Maud 'A?' Miles, strange that no marriage comes up for David Howell to a Miles

yes i think her mother is Elizabeth Mary A  (dont think its Maud) and she married a David HOWELL  NOT LEWIS)

So the marriage should be for david Howell to Miles

M A was a common abbreviation for Mary Ann in Census.

The marriage of Mary Ann Miles and Lewis David could have been an error by the person writing the register.
