Annie Naylor - missing after 1901
« on: Sunday 16 October 11 14:38 BST (UK) »
Annie Naylor (ne Pinder) born 9/5/1874 in Holbeck Leeds. Married to Alfred Naylor - 3 children Nellie born 1899, Herbert born 1903 and Elsie born 1910.
1911 census shows Alfred as married but Annie Naylor is not there. The 3 children are as is Annie Walker at the bottom of the list shown as housekeeper aged 24.
I can't find Annie Naylor anywhere else in 1911 nor can I find a death or further marriage for her.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

There is no other connection to Halifax and her daughter Elsie was not born until 1910 (though I can't say for sure that Annie was Elsie's mother). Also Alfred says he is married in 1911 not a widower.
Someone did say that many women refused to be counted on the 1911 census as aprotest about womens rights - but this is just a guess.

I think the Halifax registration referred to by Jaques could be related to this marriage :

Marriage, Jun qtr 1898
Harry Naylor
Annie Green
Halifax, Vol 9a, page 1042

In 1901 Harry is married to Annie, but in the later census he's a widower.

I wonder where this Annie Naylor was in 1911 ??
It's the only death I can find within the appropriate time scale for the birth ?

Thanks all - I appreciate your help. Pels I no longer have a subscription to 1911 census so can't check.

This is a complete mystery - I've looked on the 1911, but I can't find it Sam.

Hopefully by bringing it back to the top, someone else will give it go !  :-\
