1912 and 1913 marriage
« on: Monday 17 October 11 19:46 BST (UK) »
I have found two marriages for a Richard Smethurst in Braddan 1912 and another 1913. I believe one of these could be a second marriage for a relative. Does anyone know if I can find this out without ordering certificates. Thank you

There ia a birth of a Richard Nor[] Smethurst reg in Onchan 19000828 to a Richard Smethurst + Ina mary Fisk (later births are not in this index)- there is a burial Douglas Borough Cem 19110312 of an Ina M Smethurst age 36 - www.manxbmd.com/ only covers up to 1911 (but I havn't checked) - so guess you pay a researcher, or try to locate an entry in local press (papers are digitised free on Island some restricted set available via British Library newspapers via larger libraries or you could help my taxes and cough up for a cert!
any thing with a Manx Connection

Thank you for your help. I have found the ones you mentioned and have traced Richard Norman to Canada. I shall also be coughing up for certificates as I have already several times...Isle of Man included. My mothers recent death prompted search of her family history on island.I just wondered if these marriages had been transcribed anywhere before I send for proof.
