CLAYTON in Pott Shrigley
« on: Monday 17 October 11 22:58 BST (UK) »
I am researching Lomases in Chapel-en-le-Frith (CelF) and the chase leads me to the Claytons of Pott Shrigley.

Thomas LOMAS of Pott Shrigley was buried at Thomas Becket, CelF 24 November 1736 and his wife Elizabeth was buried there 28 April 1738. This looks like the couple (Thomas LOMAS of Horwich and Elizabeth CLAYTON) who were married at Thomas Becket 29 April 1690.

Separately, there is the will of spinster Anne LOMAS of Whitehough (Chinley by CelF), made 30 October 1747 that mentions several folk including widow Mary CLAYTON of Pott Shrigley and widow Elizabeth KERSHAW of Pott Shrigley.

So I suspect Thomas LOMAS of Pott Shrigley and Anne LOMAS of Whitehough were related in some way; the key might be a relationship between Thomas' wife Elizabeth (nee CLAYTON) to the late husband of widow Mary CLAYTON.

If a Clayton family historian can help out please...
