tracing POWs

I'm trying to find info. on an uncle of mine who was a pow in WW2 and also a step-uncle who was apparently killed in Japan in WW2 are there any sites to help with this kind of research?
I have tried CWGC site for my step-uncle, but can't find him.

I'd be very grateful for any pointers.

Have you tried the following page with links to POW sites?
There is also a south-east asian cemetery association [or like name] that raises funds for the upkeep of such graveyards overseas.

Thanks for the link, I haven't seen that one.  I had trouble with the POW link but I'll try again later, it might just have been 'one of those moments'.
