Donald McKenzie b.1829 Latheron Caithness
« on: Sunday 23 October 11 02:54 BST (UK) »
Donald appeared on record when he married Isabella McKay/McKey in Golspie in 1855. I cannot trace him back to his parents or ancestors at all.

He retired to Bonar with his daughter in the 1901 census but I cannot find his death or burial. His wife is buried in Hebron.

Does anyone else have him in their tree?

The 1855 Marriage record of Donald & Isabella should name his parents, so as to absolutely certain.

The 1901 Census date was 31 March.

Scotlands People Index:
1 X Donald McKENZIE death
Bonar between 1901 and 1910 where the death was of someone born 1826 +/-5 .

The death was in 1901.
The age recorded is 71 yrs.

Scotland WILLS on SP:
Donald McKENZIE, Farmer Carnmor Tulloch, Bonar Bridge
Died 26 Apr 1901 at Carnmor aforesaid, Intestate

I am overwhelmed with the information to my post yesterday.

Unfortunately I have the death Certificate for the death of Donald McKenzie in Bonar in 1901 and I cannot make it fit my GGrandfather. The death cert says that he is the widower of Catherine Ross, father Alexander Mackenzie and mother Margaret Murry and it was reported by his son David. This does not fit my family, so if it belongs to anyone else I can email a copy.

My Donald's only son was John who immigrated to Australia in 1882.

I am still checking the earlier census from Pam and it is looking very hopeful and may fit in somewhere. His daughter in Bonar with him in retirement in the 1901 census was Margaret McKenzie.

Thank you very much.
