baptism help Llanelli

Can anyone please help?
According to the IGI William ROBERTS was baptised 9 Sept 1838 in Llanelli Carmarthanshire.
I sent for 2 possible birth certs ( the only ones I found listed) one Dec qtr 1837 and one Sept qtr 1838 both are incorrect. I am guessing he was older when baptised. The IGI lists the correct parents.
William's son was baptised in a C of E church if that helps any

Need to find an original entry.
Would appreciate any advice

Failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence in 1874/75 so many births were unregistered prior to that date.

Although children were baptised - you may not find an official birth registration

Have you considered William Robert (without the 's') Llanelly  March 1838 - Llanelly 26 503.

The letter 's' was often left out of surnames at this time i.e. David for Davies.

I have just received info from his Military Records from a rootschat person! Something I didn't think possible and thanks go out to all RootsChat folk who are amazing!
Accordingly William was "calculated" as born Llanelli 1836 unfortunately before FreeBMD.
