GenesReunited: Is anyone having trouble?
« on: Wednesday 26 October 11 11:49 BST (UK) »
I have been trouble accessing GR for some days now. I know it's not a new story. It's just like a dripping tap, downloading oh so slowly. I have no problems accessing anything else at all so, surely, it cannot be my fault. ;)

I am due to update my membership in a month's time. I think though, of course, I cannot access My Account. I am now seriously thinking of joining Find My Past or Ancestry instead.

I would appreciate some moral support. ;D

Thanks for your response.

I have done that but there's no improvement.

I have now sent a message to GR support desk via another route to see if they can help.

Yeah, it's been playing up for a few days for me.

I have had two replies from GR.

One explains how I can access my family tree, which I had no trouble doing before with a few suggestions on how to improve access.

The second says that from 22nd - 24th October they experienced technical problems due to server improvements and offered 30 credits for the inconvenience!

However, I still cannot access and manipulate the family tree section.

Oddly, this is not just a problem at Genes Reunited.  Users have experienced the same at Ancestry.co.uk and Family Search Org.  It seems to be affecting any servers run by ancestry sites (in Utah one suspects)

Ah! so it is not just me  ::)

I have tried everything thinking the problem was at my end because I had difficulty accessing several sites - all on go slow.
Some consolation that the problem may not be my end after all.
