Are the ones from the GWR list - you don't give a source  :-\

I was wondering about Godfrey, Roger but I can't find any links. Haven't checked the early censuses for him though - Have you got the 1861? (Don't get side tracked though  ;D  )

I recall that there were Pembertons in the area when I was a lass and older so I don't think that they were all  related.

Just checked Godfrey on the 1851 and 1861 and don't see a relationship. I see that William (father) was b. Wrexham circa 1818.

Will repeat my summary of the answer to the main question about Robert and Mary Pemberton, in case it gets lost/buried:

Summary of what we've found so far, if the one that Kevin and I have located is correct:

b.c 1833, Erbistock. Parents: possibly  John and Mary (see 1861)

Garden Servant  in 1851 HO107/2503/55/4

Marriage to Mary Ann Jones. Sept q, 1855

Gardener in Church Street, Ruabon in 1861 - RG9/4280/15/8. Children - John, 4, Edward, 1 (not sure about Edward - is he Robert's son of Thomas's  :-\)
Also there is brother,  Thomas 35*  so the John and Mary as parents looks like it's correct  :)

Railway Inn, Pontadam in 1871 RG10/5652/25/12 Children - John, Flora, Robert, Lily, Alfred

Pontadam in 1881 RG111/5512/28/3 - Lily becomes Elizabeth, I think

Daughter Flora marries Price Owen June 10 1878 at Rhosymedre. Father listed as Robert Pemberton, brewer.

Wife Mary Ann dies in 1887

Great Western Inn in 1891 RG12/4612/14/7 - a widower

Marries Rosina Wilson in 1892

Rosina dies 25 Dec 1899

Pontadam in 1901 RG13/5216/39/2

Robert dies Sept q, 1901.

Yes,they are all Great Western as per my original post.Alfred Edward's employment seems to cover1884-1895.Can't get any more info-I only had some residual "pay as you go" views from my own enquiries.

Thanks for replying. Robert L Pemberton was my great great grandfather I did not know he had been married twice.  GNU is right about Robert's father being John Pemberton who was born in Coddington Cheshire in 1789 and died 1870 he married Mary Pulford (born about 1797) in Ruabon Wrexham she died in 1859.  By 1851 they had five children. Thomas baptised 5 March 1825.  Caroline baptised 30 December 1827 she died 16 July 1851 aged 23.
John baptised 27 February 1831 he died on 26 february 1856 in Oldham Lancs aged 25.  Robert L. baptised 14.4.1831 died 10 August 1901 at The Great Western Inn Ruabon.  George born about 1833 he died on 9 January 1903 Rhosymadoc aged 66.
Every bit of information helps.   Thanks TAE

Was looking up the Great Western Inn after seeing it on a headstone in the Ruabon Cemetery (I'd never heard of it). Here is the inscription or as much of it as I could read:

Sacred to the memory of George Robert son of Robert & Mary Ann Pemberton who departed this life August 8th 1864 aged 12 months

Also Edward, son of the above, who departed this life Octr 15th 1868 aged 9 years

Life hangs upon a slender thread
No sooner out than we are dead
So boast not mortal of thy might
Alive at noon and dead by night

Also in affectionate remembrance of Mary Ann, the beloved wife of Robert Pemberton, Great Western Inn Ruabon, who fell asleep in Jesus May 4th 1887 aged 54 years and was interred on May 7th

Also of the above Robert Pemberton died August 7th 1901 aged 68 years

Rosina, his wife died 25th December 1899 aged 59(?) years [may be 58 years].
