It looks as if he married a Rosina after 1891 census:

Marriage - Sept q, 1892 Wrexham 11b 428
Robert Pemberton and Rosina Wilson on the same page

Added - this one was Rosina Pemberton, Dec q, 1899, Wrexham 11b 184 so he must have re-married

There are three Pembertons from Ruabon including Alfred E with employment records listed under Great Western on Ancestry's Railway Employment records.

Hello  Roger   ;D

Just to add that if it is the one that Isobel found, b. 1941, then he shouldn't be discussed as he might well be still alive.

He's not all that much older than me  ;D ;D ;D :-X :-X :-X

Summary of what we've found so far, if the one that Kevin and I have located is correct:

b.c 1833, Erbistock. Parents: possibly  John and Mary (see 1861)

Garden Servant  in 1851 HO107/2503/55/4

Marriage to Mary Ann Jones. Sept q, 1855

Gardener in Church Street, Ruabon in 1861 - RG9/4280/15/8. Children - John, 4, Edward, 1 (not sure about Edward - is he Robert's son of Thomas's  :-\)
Also there is brother,  Thomas 35*  so the John and Mary as parents looks like it's correct  :)

Railway Inn, Pontadam in 1871 RG10/5652/25/12 Children - John, Flora, Robert, Lily, Alfred

Pontadam in 1881 RG111/5512/28/3 - Lily becomes Elizabeth, I think

Daughter Flora marries Price Owen June 10 1878 at Rhosymedre. Father listed as Robert Pemberton, brewer.

Wife Mary Ann dies in 1887

Great Western Inn in 1891 RG12/4612/14/7 - a widower

Marries Rosina Wilson in 1892

Rosina dies 25 Dec 1899

Pontadam in 1901 RG13/5216/39/2

Robert dies Sept q, 1901.

Thanks for the warning/general point but in this case it seems safe to say the three are(all surname Pemberton)

Alfred Edward            1884(start of service date)
Thomas                    1885        ditto
John Ernest Pulford    1895        ditto

There is a further unspecified Pemberton listed as Wrexham  1914

(for gnu-perhaps there is a reasonable chance that the family of interest is related to the family of Godfrey Pemberton, the policeman in the Jacob Davies thread. He and his parents lived in The School House Ruabon in the 1851 census if I remember correctly)
