baptism records (Whatley and Kilmington): MOUNTY
« on: Friday 28 October 11 17:36 BST (UK) »
Ellen Mounty (dob 1854) had 2 illegitimate children: Lavinia born July 1882 in Whatley and Joseph born Dec 1883 in Kilmington. Lavinias birth cert does not name a father; ditto Joseph.  A friend told me that sometimes the baptism/christening record of children of unmarried mothers names the father - not sure if this is true.

Also not sure where these records would be stored and I would appreciate a look up for these two to see if there is another parent listed. Many thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

No joy with a fathers name I'm afraid.  It's quite rare to see it on an English baptism when the child is illegitimate

Thanks -didn't think the father would be named - worth asking though as hoping that it would be the same man for both children.
