Hainsford or Birchwood
« on: Friday 04 November 11 19:17 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Am hoping someone can help me with the above 2 names please
On the 1851 census the person concerned stated he was born in Hainsford Kent and then the 1861 and 1871 Birchwood Kent.
I have never heard of either of these two places and despite a fair amount of research I can find no trace of them.
Any suggestions or information would really be appreciated.
Many thanks
Sally

Hello Sally,

This is just a suggestion, but maybe you are actually looking
for Eynsford, (Hainsford?)   and Birchwood is an area near Swanley.

Both places are in NW Kent, not far from Dartford.

If you don't mind posting the names you are looking for,
then someone could help you further.

   Best wishes   ama50

Would Birchwood come under St Mary Cray?  St Mary Cray is next to Eynsford http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Research/Libr/MIs/Location/01.htm

There are more transcripts on the site but some of the links are broken so if you see a link that may be useful it's easier to find them via google

Hi,

Thankyou both so much, I am very grateful for the information and with your help I think I may have found the person I am looking for.   I agree Hainsford is Eynsford and I have found a Birchwood Corner is St Mary Cray.

Again thankyou
