Births in 1862

Does anybody know in which district a birth, in Douglas 1862, would have been registered?

It does not look as though births were registered until 1878

Thanks, Rosie, I knew that. But where would the birth have been registered before 1878?
I have a relative, Joseph William Hill, who was born in Douglas in 1862. In the 1871 census it just says "born Douglas, Isle of Man".

there were very very few voluntary regs (usually well off strong nonconformists ) who registered births - otherwise hope there was a baptism (most were I think from tradition + family pressure, partly I suspect because the Church ran the schools at this time)
