No, it just says Barkingside.

You could get the death cert.

Hi Helen

When I was looking for my Nana's grave in Barkingside a friend took me to the records office which, from memory, was in a new cemetery out near Fairlop Waters. They quickly found it for me and allowed me to look at the register.

I have been unable to find the address of this place on the net but maybe if you contacted Redbridge council they could tell you. Or if you wrote to Barkingside Cemetery, Longwood Gardens, Barkingside, Essex (which is where the older cemeteries are) the letter would probably find its way to the central office.

Hi

The Essex burial guide at the top of the Rootschat Essex boards lists the cemeteries in the London boroughs (areas formerly in the county of Essex) their date of opening, their addresses and links to the necessary cemetery offices, as well as cemeteries in modern day Essex. Barkingside cemetery for instance opened in 1923. Buckingham Road Cemetery is the oldest in Redbridge - that opened in 1881.

However the indication is this 1867 burial was  in a churchyard not a civic cemetery? If that is the case what is in the church burial register is what there is. The church register will be deposited at Essex Record Office. Cemetery record offices only hold records for civic cemeteries. As suffolk*sue says further details giving her address will be on her death certificate.

You would expect a death for Barkingside to be registered in Romford registration district but I can't see an entry in the GRO civil registration index. It might be worth contacting the local registry office which I think is now Barking and Dagenham to see if they hold a death certificate for her.

Hi Valda
I actually found the entry on Family Search as "Barkingside", so I have taken up your suggestion and emailed Barking Registrar with a query.
I know it's clutching at straws, but I did find a death in Whitechapel for Sarah Dance aged 50. It isn't far from Barking and the family has married in Bethnal Green, which is next door. The only problem is I cannot give her a reason yet to be visiting the area - I have not traced any of her children yet to the area!! I think I will try that next.
