Hi
have emailed both Barking & Redbridge Registrars - both failed to find Sarah Dance buried in Barkingside in 1867 - very strange!
Although both her living children are in Barking, the Whitechapel one is looking more and more attractive, so I might send for that.

Could the lady buried in Barkingside be the one registered in Whitechapel, same year and quarter. I know the age is slightly different, but depending on who gave the information.

Although unusual it is entirely possible for the place of death and the burial to be miles apart. My Granny died in hospital in Wickford but was buried in Barkingside because her family lived there.

Update on Topic
I have now found that the GRO now do digital copies of index entries for £2.50, which is very reasonable!
So I decided to take the plunge on this one and found the reason for the discrepancy - she was in the London Hospital, Whitechapel with diseased kidneys.
This was definitely the right woman, as she was described as "widow of Francis Dance, beer house keeper", which is 100% correct as her husband Francis died in 1858 and that was his occupation.
So the death is the correct one and the burial is 3 years out as she was baptised in 1817.
