Harriet Higgins - Croydon

I should be very grateful for any information about the marriage of a Harriet Higgins in Croydon between March and June 1853.
She was the sister of my 2x great-grandfather, would have been about 30 years old and a widow.

The marriage is in the indexes:

This cross refs to a list of 5 names, so one must be wrong:
Charles Amos, Mary Ann Bagwell, Harriett Higgins, Eliza Porter and John Simmons

looking at the actual images, all are clear as 2a 245 apart from ELiza Porter, who could well read 243 or 246.

So we can conclude that HH married either Charles Amos or John Simmons.  And MAry Ann Bagwell married the other one.

A quick look at 1861 census is not conclusive. I cant see Harriett as an Amos, but then nor can I see anyone obviously as either of the couples in the Croydon area. There are John and HArriet Simmonds couples, but not in that area.

I think you will have to get the certificate to find out more.

A 55-yr-old Harriet Simmons died in Croydon in Qtr 1 1879.

In the 1861 census there's:

1 Bird in Hand Cottages, Sydenham Rd N, Croydon
Annesley was married to William Hoath, a 34 yr old coachman who was born in Chelsea. 
5 yr old son, Harry W S Hoath, b. Croydon and Annesley's father John Simmons 62 yr old widowed gardener.  Also 14 yr old cousin Ada E Quiddington, b. Redhill

Free BMD also has these births in Croydon:
John Simmons Hoath Qtr 3 1874 (died Qtr 1 1875)
Henry William S Hoath Qtr 3 1875
Annesley Martha B Hoath Qtr 1 1883

Looks like William Hoath died in Croydon (Qtr 4 1883) and Annesley remarried in Qtr 1 1854 to William E Batchelor.  Annesley died Qtr 2 1895 in Croydon

Would you know if your Harriet Higgins was born in Reigate?

Well done, Dazey  I think you must be on the right track, because Talmage, in her(his?) first post said HH was a widow ... and in 1851 there is a 27 yr old widowed Harriet Higgins, born Reigate, living in Croydon
at HO107 1601 500 49

Apologies for the delay in replying but I have had problems accessing the internet.
I am sure this is the Harriet Higgins I was looking for as the information I had, mainly that she was baptised in Reigate in August 1823, fits with the ages etc in the information you have been able to give me which I am very pleased to have.
