Erica,

Here's something I prepared earlier regarding Sir Clement Kinloch-Cooke:

1877   St John’s college Cambridge Tripos - BA; LLM.
1883   Called to the Bar: Inner Temple
1884   Private Secretary to Earl of Dunraven
1885   Editor of Observer; Pall Mall Gazette etc
1898   Married to Florence daughter of Rev J L Turbot (formerlyErrington)
1901   Founded and editor of Empire Review magazine
1905    Became Knight Bachelor;   Changed name to Kinloch-Cooke
1910   Became MP for Devenport
1919   Made KBE
1924   MP for Cardiff
1926   Created Baronet of Brighthelmstone

Erica,

With regard to  the Cooke family, the above entry (Dazey999), shows family members present in the 1871 Census. However, I believe there were two additional daughters - Helena b.1859 and another Jane b.1857.

This Jane is not shown in the 1871 Census because she was away at boarding school at the time - Whitmore House, Cuckfield, Sussex (1871 Census). Helena, being 12 at the time may also have been away at school.

The whole family is listed in the 1881 Census.

The hard work is for a purpose as I believe I am related to the Cooke family and am trying to discover more about them.

I believe that Jane Cooke b.1857 was my great grandmother on my mother's side but am having difficulty tracing my great grandfather.

It would make Sir Clement my great great uncle, I think.

Hi Roger,

I've been looking at what I have on the Family Tree.....

I have Clement's mother as Jane Walker b. 1822 and his father as Robert Whall Cooke.

I can give you some more info regarding Clement's siblings and Jane's family if you'd be interested?

I don't have a sister for Clement as Jane Cooke b. 1857, but I do have an Emily Jane Cooke, b. 1856??
