Thank you
I watched the Julie Walters episod, thanks for that. It's great information. The right resources and finances to do it really help to pinpoint these records and information.
We are still trying to pinpoint our ancestors in the area. Derrycourane, Islandeady is our ancestor Catherine Walshs area. Her illegitimate daughter Annie O' Malley born 1850 to a Charles O Malley is our mystery. Trying to find which O'Malleys. I know the answer is out there 😎

Also a photo of, who we think is Annie O Malley, probably an engagement photo in Philadelphia circa 1878..she married John Ryder of Castlebar

And a photo which reads ' To my dear sister Catherine Welsh from Bridget O Mally'
So Annie's aunt married an O Mally too.
The people in the photo are either Bridget and husband or Walsh parents?

Two lines of Malleys to investigate for living descendants.

Yes that's her! In a newspaper announcement for her marriage it says Annie O'Malley of Philadelphia so we don't know if she was raised there or moved there as an adult.
Her mother Catherine is with them in the UK census do did they both move to  Chester after Annie's birth? So many questions before her marriage to John

We also think Cawleys were cousins as a letter to Annie reads ' Dear cousin' from a Cawley man in the US and her sons went out to an Anthony Cawley in Boston.
The Walsh connection perhaps?

AK101,

You might be interested in the location of Newtown in Castlebar from the MapGenie 25 Inch map recorded between 1897-1913, and where your ancestors lived. Pan to the right for the centre of Castlebar.
