**COMPLETED** Esther Maddison
« on: Sunday 20 November 11 17:52 GMT (UK) »
Through family sources I believe Esther Maddison (b 1785 at Spilsby) married a Mr Goodacre before marrying Edward Thompson on 15 Oct 1818 at Boston.  I have been unable to trace such a marriage.
Can anyone able to help me track down the elusive Mr Goodacre, who presumably died before 1818?

Many thanks :)

She married as a spinster in 1818 (top left) http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/RecordDisplayTranscript.aspx?oid=545703&iid=60647

Surely if she had been a widow she would have married as GOODACRE.  :-\
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Thank you very much for this information and link.  I was not previously aware that Esther was registered as "spinster" (she was old enough to have been married before, is my excuse!).
It would appear that the family information is faulty .... and I can stop looking for something which does not exist.
[I cannot read Edward Thompson's parish (Peterborough, Northamptonshire) can anyone make more sense of it  - I have tried looking on parish maps without success. ???]
Many thanks

I'm wondering if the vicar has written 'Peterbro', and then decided that he ought to write it in full as well.

Now you have suggested this, I'm sure you must be correct.
One further link in the chain solved - and so quickly!

Thank you both so much ;D

I think it says St John   http://peterborough-stjohns.org.uk/

(It's supposed to be the name of a parish.) :)
