HOYLE - Deanhouse Workhouse, Thongsbridge
« on: Tuesday 22 November 11 08:40 GMT (UK) »
Frank Edward and Clara HOYLE became Master and Matron of Deanhouse after serving as Porter and Portress at Crosland Moor.
Their daughter, Lucie, was the mother of my aunt (Dad's half sister).

My aunt died recently and I have found some HOYLE family photos and papers amongst her effects. Apparently Lucie had a brother, George Frederick, known in the family as Fred. From photos we know he became a soldier, possibly in the KOYLIs, but don't know if it was just WWI service or a career choice. One of the photos shows him with a sergeant's stripes. I've tried the CWGC site but, whilst there are one or two possibles there is nothing close enough to be positive.

If any descendants of Fred are out there and would be interesting in swapping information please get in touch.
