Macdonald family in Dornoch 1700 - 1760
« on: Saturday 26 November 11 11:51 GMT (UK) »

Hello, has anyone any connection to the Macdonald family name in Dornoch.

My husbands grt, grt, grt, grt grandfather was Hugh Macdonald, we have found four children, Hugh and Margaret, Lilias and Isobel, the last two girls were from his marriage to Christian Kirk in 1738. We believe he had a previous marriage but no records can be found...

Both Hugh snr and Hugh jnr held the post of Town Clerk in Dornoch also Sherriff Clerk of Sutherland.

Hugh snr died in 1756, this is recorded in the town council minutes.

I have posted requests for info re Hugh before but thought I might try again, desperation is now creeping in.....

Many thanks in anticipation
