JONES Family from West Derby
« on: Wednesday 30 November 11 16:47 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Is anyone interested in Owen Jones who married Fanny Wilshaw Sept 1889 West Derby? I can't find out anything about them after they married.

Thanks,

The couple were married at St Paul North Shore Kirkdale according to www.lancashirebmd.org.uk Fanny's name is given as WILLSHAW

Their marriage is on Ancestry and took place on 16 September 1889. He was 19 she was 18 both gave an address in Braemar Street. he was a labourer son of owen Jones a dock labourer and she was the daughter of Joseph Willshaw a dock labourer.

Thank you so much! I've been trying to get more on this family for ages.

Just found something sad on the free BMD

Deaths Jun 1891

Jones  Owen  1  W. Derby  8b 394

I am wondering if this is the little boy on the 1891 census.....

It could well be I looked for  Owen b1869 Liverpool, Mary/Fanny b1872 Liverpool & Owen b1890 Liverpool on 1901c but didn't come up with anything  ???

I found this entry but Owen's b1865 pob is given as Wales and  - perhaps a mistake ???

RG13; Piece: 3458; Folio: 80; Page: 25
Owen Jones 36 Caernarvon Wales Dock Labourer
Mary 27 Liverpool

checked 1871c again says he's born Liverpool same as 1881/1891c ???

RG10; Piece: 3765; Folio: 90; Page: 60;
9  Lincoln St off Shadwell St Liverpool
Owen Jones 27 Holyhead Labourer

Thank you.

I think you are right in all you have said - this seems like a lonely family.......... Life must have been hard then. It doesn't look as if they had any more children.

Good morning elsinore,
I have left a comment on roots chat regarding Florence Halsall Jones who I believe may be my paternal grandmother.
It was a chance remark by my mum, now 93 years old about my Nana Royle which prompted me to Google my Nana's name.
Flossie as she was known to us, as far as we were aware came from Wales ( not too far from Derby),
Mum recalls that she had been told that Flossie had had a hard life.
It seems that her when her father died ( ? Robert ) for some reason Flossie was put into service but her younger sister Maud was too young to go and was put into the workhouse.
I know that Florence had a relationship with Maud as adults.
Most of my fathers siblings are now deceased, (five of six) although one Auntie has researched the family and I will contact her to see if she can confirm if Flossie's father was indeed Robert.
Kind Regards
