edmund prys (1541?-1624) - a definitive(ish) ancestry
« on: Thursday 01 December 11 08:12 GMT (UK) »
I'm descended from this man, and... there seem to be contradictory genealogies around, reflecting aspiration, imagination and genealogy by cut and paste. This is where google is not bringing clarity, and I need some historical rigour.

Can anyone point me to a sound genealogy for Edmund Prys, the archdeacon?

(And i expect it comes with some caveats - that's ok, that's real history!)

His name appears on several of Griffith's Pedigrees, the main one being Tyddyn Du, Maentwrog.
There is also a Tyddyn Du pedigree listed in the Wynnstay index.

You may have seen these already but, if not, worth a look. Griffith and Wynnstay often vary, so it is difficult to know if there is a definitive pedigree.

Backwards, please.

Going forwards I already have:
Jane Prys = Humphrey ap David Lloyd, Hafod Ysbyty.
David Lloyd ap Humphrey (d.1683 Eng) = Elinor Wynn
Humphrey Lloyd, Hafod Ysbty d.1702) = Sioned William
Catherine Lloyd, Hafod Ysbyty (d.1753 = Pierce Owen d.2 Sep 1746 (& from there pretty good records down to me)  I understand both of these have probate records at the national library of wales, so one day when i get to the UK...

So if there's more known about this line going forwards, I would also be interested.

Here's one version

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=REG&db=jlvolker&id=I8239

About two years ago, I thought for a week that I was a descendant, and set about doing much the same thing. I'm sure that I found something out from some website about royal families, or suchlike.
I cannot find it now, and I deleted all the knowledge I'd copied !
Are you aware that wills at the National Library are online ?
