I can't find a death (or a remarriage) of a Lydia (or Maud L) Upham either.

Did they move abroad?

There is a Lydia Court on the 1911 index in Chippenham, Wilts age 18.  :-\

Index has an Eliot Court age 9 and a Charles Stokes age 64.  In 1901 Charles and his wife have two young girls as 'boarders'  I winder if that is also the case of Lydia and Eliot in 1911.

freebmd gives pob for Elliott as Birmingham RD.  Therefore assume this is that Lydias birth reg  Sept qtr 1892
Court  Lydia Victoria E     Birmingham  6d 143

Ruled her out she married in Melksham in 1919

I'm now playing about with the idea that William's mum may have had the maiden name of Acourt, but perhaps she married and was widowed during WW1,so didn't atually marry as one.

There are a couple of Acourt's down as Accourt too.

Do you have any idea what William senior's occupation was? There are a few potential William's in the 1901 census, but no Lydia Acourts.

Thanks everyone for spending time looking.
I think I will send for the certificate, but just to throw another name into the mix,
I have found a death of a Amelia Lydia Upham in 1961 perhaps this is her.

Census records.
If the father was William, can anyone find him in the census records in the Bath area?

Thanks again
Sandra :D

I have found a death of a Amelia Lydia Upham in 1961 perhaps this is her.

It could be this one, not married and still in same area  :-\
Births Dec 1888
UPHAM  Amelia Lavinia     Taunton  5c 322

The death reg only gives an initial for the middle name
