Simon HAMS ?transported
« on: Tuesday 06 December 11 17:10 GMT (UK) »
My ggg grandfather was Simon Hams b1771.
He married Mercy Stanley Kingsnorth Kent 1974.
I cannot find any mention of him after the marriage. He seems to have disappeared.
Mercy married again 1801 to Arthur Pearse in Kent.

I wondered if he was transported to Australia.

Can anyone help with this mystery please.

Thanks Linda

hi linda
i can,t find him in prison hulk registers or australian convict collection , in your searching did you see an occupation for him such as seaman or such and have you looked for a death , i know i,m stating the obvious but it,s surprising how easy it is to overlook  a death .

Thanks Trevor.

I have searched for Simon Hams birth and death. Also the censuses.

I do have a copy of a settlement paper when he and Mercy moved to Kingsnorth  Kent from Willesborough Kent 1794, the year they married.

Mercy had 2 illegitimate sons John 1791 and Charles 1794, but they are not mentioned on the settlement paper.

I don't know where he came from or where he went!

regards Linda
