Thanks Ken for asking this question and Andy for finding the answer. I have for some time been trying to find the date of the Lang family immigration to Canada. Lany was not one of the variations of Lang that I tried.

I looked at the images for the ship "Montreal" and there would appear to be a J. Lang, age 30, on the ship. This is likely Janet's husband, although if so,  it is strange he isn't listed with the family.

Hi

I'm not sure about the J Lang on the Montreal, the passenger list shows him as single and bound for Quebec whereas Mrs Lang and the children are bound for Eagle River, Ontario

Yes, I agree that different destinations are indicated, but the destination of Quebec is simply the destination of the ship. It may be that was all that was filled out rather than the final destination. The J. Lang is of the right age and it is interesting (unlikely?) that there would be a J. Lang on the same ship. I have also yet to find a James Lang in the passenger lists between 1885 (a child was born to James and Janet  on Jan 1 1886) and 1887 (another child was born to James and Janet on 12 Apr 1888). Of course, he may be there under some unusual spelling or because of an indecipherable image.
