Lookup request - India Office, British Library

I hoping that someone might be able to look up a gentleman in the India Office Records at the British Library.  The particular records are those of Burma Railways Employees held in the series L/F/10 (according to Moir's Guide).  The person in question is Alfred Christopher Day.  In 1919 he was shown on a birth record of one of his daughters as being a retired cashier.  The family remembers though that he may also have been a civil engineer for the railways. 

Anything that anyone might be able to find out regarding Alfred would be much appreciated as he has defeated all my other efforts and is proving to be a complete blockage on my getting back any further.  I'm in Australia so it would not be possible for me to access the relevant records myself. At the moment I have his date of death (22 Nov. 1938, Calcutta) and that is all; no age at death, no date or year of birth, no location of birth, no parents names, no date of marriage, all in all, not a lot to work with.  So, you can imagine how significant it would be if someone were able to turn up one small additional fact.

Is this time critical? I ask because I shall visit the British Library again, but not until the new year.

Time is not a major factor, Alfred has beaten my efforts for the last year or more so another month or two won't make much difference i suspect (though the wait will be excruciating.)

Hi kristof

Unfortunately, researchers in and around London who do look-ups are few and far between.

I see that redroger made an offer but circumstances must have got in the way and prevented his trip to London.

Also, the records at the British Library are not computerised and a teeny little look-up can often take an hour minimum.

I'm sure that if someone else can step in and help they will but please don't hold your breath.

Oh well, can but put it out there and see if anyone can help me out.  Its just so frustrating, a single massive roadblock is preventing me from making any progress at all.
