I am trying to trace my Grans (Alice Mary Anne Sparrow) family from Gislingham, Suffolk, born 1880ish, married William Steggall, she may not have been born in Gislingham but certainly they farmed in that village in the 1900's. They retired to live in Bacton, Suffolk and attended the Finningham Gospel Hall.
They had a son Bob and a daughter Olive Muriel

If you send for her birth certificate, it should have her parents' details.

The 1891 census gives George Sparrow's birth place as Horne and as well as all the offspring listed in 1901, there is an older son, Arthur G, aged 13.

I don't know how much you would like us to find for you and would hate to spoil your fun in searching so I'll stop now but do say if you'd like more.

These replies are very interesting. I got started on this having met and become friends with a lady in her 80's and found she has Sparrows in her recent history. Thought I'd see if I could find some info which is something I had never thought to do previously.

The registration district is certainly Hoxne, but if my research into SPARROW is anything to go by, then the actual birth place is Horham (pronounced horum).
