William Webb in Lichfield, Staffordshire COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 14 December 11 14:33 GMT (UK) »
:)I am looking for documentation of the birth of William Webb, on or about 12 November, 1741 in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
Of slightly lower priority, I'd like to confirm  that his parents are William Webb and Mary Leeds. Also, that they were married on or about 14 December 1740 at St Chad in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
Finally, if it were possible to determine when and where these parents were born, it would be extremely valuable, although that is less critical to me.
If you can manage it, actual copies of the documents would be great. I'd be happy to reimburse your copying and shipping expenses. If that's not possible, please give me the most precise reference information that you can.
Since I live in America, this isn't something I can readily do for myself, so your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Chuck - welcome to RootsChat.

If you're looking to see the actual registers entries there are a couple of ways you can go about this. You can order films of the registers at an LDS Family History Centre - there's a charge and it takes a few weeks. You could also contact the Staffordshire Archives service and use their services - they hold the original registers and filmed copies and will print from the latter at a charge - as you've got the specific church and dates that would keep the costs down.

I did some research for someone else regarding the Webb families and made notes as follows, whilst visiting Lichfield Archives:

St Mary, Lichfield - baptisms:
30 March 1730 - Elizabeth daughter of William Webb (probably not the same William)
12 November 1741 - William son of William Webb
23 Januaryn 1745/6 - Mary daughter of William Webb
1 September 1747 - Thomas son of William Webb
13 November 1749 - John son of William Webb
26 September 1751 - Henry son of Mr William Webb
30 August 1753 Elizabeth daughter of Mr William Webb
10 October 1759 - Charles son of Mr William Webb
10 August 1761 - Edward son of Mr William Webb
22 February 1765 - Sarah daughter of Mr William Webb

Marriage, St Chad, Lichfield
14 December 1740 - William Webb and Mary Lees.  - Marriage licence granted on 8 December 1740 to William Webb, Baker of the City of Lichfield, bachelor aged 24 years and Mary Leigh of Curborough, spinster aged 22.

Glad to have been of help, and good also that I keep all my notes from various searches  ;)

As I've quoted the marriage licence, then it must be in existence, and is held at Lichfield Archives, as the Diocesan repository.  The staff in Lichfield are very helpful  :) :)
