Hi Jim,
I've just come across your query.  I have been indexing C of E Marriages for Whitehaven from 1837 to 1920's, there are a several Patterson's but not your Thomas unfortunately. I checked 1871 Census for Whitehaven and if you have an idea of parent's names (now or later) I can check up on the family.

Hello Jim.

I have tried, without success to find you marriage.

I have, however, got details of the family, from the 1891 census, living in Bootle cum Linacre, Lancashire.

Do you have this info? , Thomas and Christiana had
another daughter, Agnes aged 7yrs.

Please let me know if this will be helpful to you.

Will keep on looking for the wedding.

Kind Regards

JeannieR

Hi, Joan and JeannieR, Thank you both very much for looking.

I dont have the 1891 census information and would really appreciate it if you could send it to me.

I have Thomas age 14, living in George St Whitehaven in 1851 with his two sisters,
they also had a boarder called Ann Kinley age 22 from the Isle of Man (worth looking into)

I now have three sons with daughters called Agnes (another clue emerging I think)

Joan, My research of Patterson's in West Cumberland is turning into a one name study :)
so any marriage details you have would be very much appreciated.

Thanks again
Jim

Jim

As promised, details of your Patterson family 1891;

Agnes                 aged 7          born  L'pool               Daughter.

Andrew               aged 14        born  L'pool               Son

Christina             aged  50       born  Isle of Man       Wife

Christina             aged  22       born  L'pool              Book folder

Emma                 aged  12       born  L'pool               scholar

Thomas              aged  56       born C'land                labourer

Thomas could have been working in a quarry or quay, but there was a great black mark right on that word!!

Hope this is of some use,

JeannieR

Hi Jim,

Are the Patterson's you are after all pre-1900.
It's just that there are quite a number of them so if there is a cut off date I needn't send the whole lot and also I'm not sure about data protection etc. for later ones so they would be best in a personal message which I think is possible with roots chat isn't it?

Regards

Joan
