Mrs Cotsford BURDON of Castle Eden County Durham

My 3xg grandfather worked as a servant for Mrs Cotsford BURDON (nee Matthews) for many years. She was the wife of one of the many Rowland BURDONs who lived at the "Castle" in Castle Eden DUR.

He left her employ presumably when she died or moved away. I am trying to pin down the date she died/moved, as I suspect he might be mentioned in her will. She is not on the GRO deaths between 1851-1865.

She last appeared on the 1851 census aged 77, b East India, British Subject. Then she vanishes. Maybe to foreign parts? But at 77?

It says the Parish Registers, including burials, are available at Durham Records Office.   It also gives census transcriptions.
