Aah, digging deeper, I now see where the confusion may be.

Raymond Harrison Funnell must have emmigrated to Cnada sometime after 1901 as I have found a tree which says he married an Isabel Crouch in Winnipeg and he died in Winnipeg.

They don't appear to have any passenger information for him on Ancestry so cannot double check.

Form 30A arrival for Raymond H. Funnell, b. 1905 St Leonards-on-the-sea
left London on the Melita and arrived Quebec 28 July 1921.  Destination was his employer Thos. Hutchinson, Beaverbrook Farm, Goodwater Saskatchewan.  British contact, father C. Funnell of 3 Grange Road, Lewes.

The marriage between Crouch and Funnell can be found on the Manitoba Vital Statistics site in 1924.

Thanks for that Debbie.

Not sure this is the Raymond I was following. According to the 1901 census he was born in 1894 in Lewes, Sussex. Ancestry only has 1 Raymond Harrison and he was listed as being born in Lewes in 1894 also.

Hi Debbie,

Ignore the birthplace - it was St Leonards on Sea (somewhere I am very familiar with), I was working on a Funnell from Lewes when I replied. He was still born in 1894 though.

The age of Raymond H on that Form 30A is actually 26 which would give a birth year of about 1895. (*A* has the birth year as 1905)

There is also a border crossing to the USA at Winnipeg for a Raymond Funnell, 27, in July 1922. He is in transit (so possibly going to New York to embark for England). He gives his father as Clement in Midhurst Sussex. Birth year w/b about 1895 here also, so seems to be a good match for your info.

You'd think I would have learned by now to always doublecheck the information that is indexed!!!

Well, I hadn't actually double-checked it either until the OP posted with her concern about the date .... then I did the actual math. I do try to remember to double-check but am not consistent. Good lesson here.

Hi Debbie and PB,

Many thanks for that. He is 'my man'. I too am also guilty of not double checking, hence the posting about Raymond marrying an Isobel Crouch.

Raymond Harrison Funnell lived a good long life, didn't he?  Here listed as a Major in ww2 http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/37213/supplements/4063/page.pdf
Apparently contributed in both wars, from this great mini-bio... http://www.btinternet.com/~Ralph.Johnson/gghall/pafn90.htm
