From the Sands 1885 Sydney Alphabetical Directory

Robert H Sibthorpe, Lithographer, Broughton St, St L E  (as in St Leonards East)

There is also the following entry in that Directory:

Jane Sibthorpe, 46 Yurong St (Sydney)

NSW ER 1913
St Leonards, polling at Milson's Point
ALL the following are for surname SIBTHORPE

Emmie Gertrude, typiste, 53 Brisbane St
Mary, domestic duties, 53 Brisbane St
Robert Hudson, lithographer, 53 Brisbane St
Robert James, painter, 53 Brisbane St

St Leonards, polling at Mount St
Frederick, painter, 8 Neutral St
Hilda Clarice, domestic duties, 8 Neutral St
John Bailey, mechanic, 53 Brisbane St

(I don't know why John Bailey SIBTHORPE's enrollment directed him to vote at Mount St rather than at Milson's point, but both polling places would be within walking distance for anyone living in that area at that time ....)

Cheers,  JM

Hi Dee

Don't know how I arrived at 'GRB' as the acronym. Maybe yesterday's temperatures affected my brain.

Many thanks for the links. The photos in Trove I can reach just fine. Curious that the best image shows him in drag. Looks like he was having fun.
The link to the photos works for me. Seeing everyone's responses makes me concur, although I read the year on the football as '1913'. Reluctant to accept '1912', but that is just me. As you mention, these photos seem irrelevant to the SIBTHORPE family.

PM coming shortly.
cheers
Eggdish

Hi Eggd,

I'm looking forward to receiving a PM.

Glad the links all worked for you, and that you agree the photos, especially the football one, appear to be irrelevant. It's a pity the newspaper photographs are not of better quality, but they are certainly better than nothing.

Thanks, JM, for posting the electoral roll information. As I've mentioned, I do have quite a bit of other information that I haven't posted, as I decided just to put up the outline of the main families. I'm glad to add any additional information.
