Jane Scott burial in Penrith
« on: Thursday 29 December 11 15:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Could anyone with access to Penrith St Andrews burials do a look up for Jane Scott please?
I am looking for the burial of Jane Scott in Penrith between 1851 and 1861. I have found three deaths on FreeBMD but not sure which one is mine, so need a burial.
My Jane Scott was born Jane Allison in about 1781 in Carlisle, Cumberland and married John Scott in 1799. I have found her in 1841 and 1851, but not 1861.
The deaths I found were:
Sep qtr 1851, Mar qtr 1852 and Dec qtr 1856.
Please help
Helen

Hi,

Have you tried  https://www.familysearch.org

There are a few Jane Scotts listed there and 1 or 2 Jane Allisons

Good Luck

Hi
Yes, I have looked at the new Family Search and it only shows one burial on 25 Dec 1856 in Penrith, and Penrith district - all the other 8 are in different districts. Unfortunately it does not show the age, which is what I need, being a very common name.
I appreciate that having found a date iin the Penrith registration district does not mean the event took place in the parish as the district covers a lot of parishes - but it is worth a try!

Sorry Helen,

Just found an 1851 census that gives  a Jane Scott B: 1781 (70). Living with daughter Jane and granddaughter Mary at 139 Sandgate Penrith (source Ancestry.co.uk)

Hi Rob
I have'nt had all your messages as, for some reason, only one came through - and that one was disconnected from my post.
I have just got back off holiday for two weeks and I'm catching up on Rootschat, so thanks for your efforts.
I will reply to each of your messages on the relevent post.
I haven't found a message yet about Jane Scott but hopefully I will catch up with it.

Hi Richard
Yes the 1851 census is her with her two daughters and granddaughter. Sadly Ann and Mary (daughter and her daughter) did not last the year.
I am hoping the 1851 burial is her, but cannot be sure without an age.
Hope to find that out soon.
Helen
