As already mentioned, he was 49 when he died in Merchant Navy on 18/2/1941.   He must, therefore, be the Charles Crocombe b.Dec.qtr.1891 in East Stonehouse, Devon.   Census shows he was son of Charles and Annie.

His pre war Merchant navy  records gives some details about him and his pre war MN career and confirms Annette 7's finding concerning his birth on  3/12/1891 in Stonehouse, Plymouth but the information from his WW2 records state he was presumed drowned together with the entire crew of the London registered vessel EDWY R BROWN official number 166409. The EDWY R BROWN was posted as missing since 18th February 1941. His Last place of abode was given as Mallins Cottage Falmouth. He has a  WW2 medal listing here
