The 1851 census has Martha Kirkman (Arkman) at HO107 2210 195 11  with mother Martha and others but it is very hard to read.

Gosh I can't beleive this has gone to page 2 already!!! The Lancs site is GREAT! I have put in some info to cross check and I am now certain that the Martha I'm looking for is Kirkman (and now have her mother's maiden name Nelson). OK more research to do now on there!!!! THANKS again!

Martha was illegitimate - I did wonder in view of the age gap between her and sister Sarah

Puzzled ... most of my relatives on my dad's side are Bolton born and died there ... so I should be able to locate them on the lancs site ... (I can find myself and my marriage no problem!) BUT I put in my late dad Albert Taylor born 1926 and nothing comes up ... also his parents marriage only comes up if Haslam Matha Ellen is typed in before Taylor Albert - done male then female nothing shows - why's that???
