Can you clarify the information about your family of which you are certain as the 1911 census return for Francis Murray in itself is confusing

Francis describes himself as married 13 years yet his daughter Kate Hall/Wall (diffilculto to tell) is 29!
His wife has filled in that she has had 8 children of which 8 are living but not how long married
I also think the child Janie Hall/Wall is Kate's daughter and John's niece; and not Francis niece but his grand-daughter

Could Anne be a second wife ?

If the form is filled in correctly then Kate is daughter of the head of household. Since she's a widow, then Murray could be her maiden name, and Kate could have been a child from the first marriage ?

That's what I was thinking but if the wife named was a second wife and had 8 children in 13 years then you'd imagine if they were all living they would be living with them??

very true... he's a Herd on the 1901 return, could some of them be nearby tending to animals somewhere ?

They dont look that well off, so a boarding school doesn't seem likely does it ?

another option - I'm not sure where this Coolmore townland is located, but if it's remote could the children be staying with relatives nearer to their school ?
(found that with some of my Wicklow connections..)

here are the two returns for reference :

  Murray household - 1901
  Murray household - 1911

Hi to all.  I'm getting a bit off the subject but I was looking at the lease and noted that William the 1st child is not on the lease. Also  none of his 3 sons children were named after him.
