William Beer Turnbull - goldsmith - my brick wall for 2012!

Hi, just seen this post. Have you managed to find any connection with any earlier Turnbull's in London ?
My Great (x6) Grandmother was an Elizabeth Turnbull b 21 May 1757 in Dagenham to a James Turnbull & Elizabeth Vinton.  I have not been able to find much about my Turnbull's, other than James & Elizabeth Married in 1754 in Cornhill, which is obviously not far from Cripplegate.

As an aside, I've been steadily going the London trade directories at LMA, following my own goldsmith ancestor.

In the midst of these, was a directory which listed their guild. Mine was a member of the Worshipful Co. of Barber Surgeons, so they weren't all in the Goldsmiths.

The Society of Genealogists have a couple of books listing goldsmiths. One, Gronweld (?) Lists locations and dates descriptions of their hallmarks. Might be useful at the car boot sale 

Anyway, back to DNA...

Its actually OH who has Turnbulls in the ancestory, and no we haven't done any DNA.
