SMITH Families x 2 in Buck 1840-1880 >> US
« on: Wednesday 11 May 05 14:55 BST (UK) »
Looking for 2 SMITH families fairly certain related but not sure exactly how.
Focusing search in Buck --  Aston Clinton/Buckland

J.P. (Peter) Smith  b.  Apr 1843/1844
Wife Ann               b. May 1843/1844
Son, Fred               b. 1864
Son, George           b. 1868
Dau, Martha           b. 1870

All children born in Eng.
Family Immigrated together to U.S. > Maryland > 1870/71  In Kansas 1875 with 3 children born in US:  Sarah (1873) Margaret (1875) Maud (1877)

**********
John Smith         b. May, 1843
Wife Mary Ann  b. June, 1845
Son, Albert         b. July, 1875
Dau Rhoda          b. July, 1883   ( married in Kansas to Julian Hymer)
Son, George        b. Mar 1885

All children born in Eng.
Family immigrated together to US > Kansas in 1890

Both families living in close proximity in same county, township in Kansas thru 1900’s.  Both show separately in 1900 census so don’t think the same families but with slightly different date.

Though----  possible:  John = J.P,   Ann = (Mary) Ann, and Albert & Rhoda are older siblings to  the other children  and that immigration dates are incorrectly stated.

Believe connected to Charles and Rhoda (Smith) King who immigrated in 1870 to US via Canada >>Kansas.

Rhoda Smith King b. 1838 in Buckland/Aston Clinton, Buck --  with brothers George, John, James, Peter, Job, William.  Her mother was Sarah widowed btwn 1847-1851.
Family living @ Green End Street Aston Clinton Buck in 1851.

Confused?  Yes, so am I!  Know  there is something here and not coincidence.

Thanks for any help or information found!

Hi Ruth, thanks for your interest and this info but I have them in US --  I'm trying to place them in UK in order to confirm the connection.

I show dau Sarah as born in Maryland, tho ---  you have New Jersey???

Is your thought that Charles maybe a witness to JP & Ann's marriage?  I think JP is related to Charles' wife Rhoda not by blood to Charles.

I think to find JP and Ann's marriage record I need to place them in UK in order to know which county/parish to begin looking.  Tho' I suppose I can just begin searching in Aston Clinton, Buck to see what comes up.

Let me know if I'm missing your point in this muddle.

Thanks!
