Victor Emanuel Frederick KAPPLER - Death

Victor Emanuel Frederick KAPPLER was born on 28th October 1881 in Adelaide to Emanuel Evienckos KAPPLER & Mary Malvina SELWAY.

Can anyone find a death and/or burial for him please, or any mention of him outside South Australia in Electoral Rolls?

Hi Dee,
Not sure if this is your guy but there is a Victor KAPPLER sailing for San Francisco California in 1920 on the Sonoma.  Arrived 6.9.1920.
He is 37 yrs of age, born c. 1883 Adelaide, SA , single, farmer, English ethnicity, reads and writes, last resided Sydney.
He notes a contact as Mr Wilson, 223 Bridge rd., Sydney.

Yes, Maria.....that is the family, and I actually have a copy of that photograph, and know the tragic story of the son who died in WW1.

It's Victor's death or whereabouts that has me stumped.

Now that's interesting, Sashar. I have found mention of him being involved with the labour Party and Unions in 1912/13, and I've seen letters he wrote to the authorities during WW1, but after that I haven't been able to find any trace of him. That has to be him. I wonder if he stayed in the US.....

I might have to ask someone who can check the 1930 US Census if he can be spotted on that.

I've managed to get to see the image of the Passenger list that Sashar spotted Victor sailing on from Sydney to California in 1920. That's definitely Victor Emmanuel Frederick. However, I have found that he returned in 1922.

So he's still missing!

Just for interest there is a mention in the SA Police Gazette March 14th 1894 under 'Missing Friends'  notifying that a Victor Kappler 12 & 1/2 years missing from his home in New Parkside since the 6th inst.

There is a description as well.
