Hi,
I'm looking for a bit of help if anyone knows the answer to this puzzle,
When researching my Stabler ancestors, I have a family living in Mickleton near Romaldkirk. 3 of their children's deaths are recorded on Familysearch in an odd way- instead of a burial record it gives a date of death and a residence of Mickleton, the name of the batch is 'Shiply Co. Durham' and the records all seem to be from the Romaldkirk area. E.g. one of the records for 'George Stabel' gives a date of death of '23rd April 1792 Shiply co Durham' and residence Mickleton'. What is Shiply? And why is this a death record rather than a burial and why not in the usual Romaldkirk church? If anyone knows it would be a great help.
Thanks for reading and best regards,
Dan
