i am looking 4 william as he was my grandfather  he died in 1959 he may have came from port glasgow he lived in dundee 4 long time he had  5 or 6 sons and 1 daughter there names where my father andrew william john  james emily  and eddie who died very young there may well have been a samuel who died young 2 my grans name was ceclia  andreson maiden or steveson married i do not know ceclia and william ever got married  have found the name  gary or mary  perry  of port glasgow   if you know names of any of these names it may help thank you

I can't see any marriage between William and Ceclia  on Scotland's People fraid but his death cert would give his age and his parents (tho the info only as good as the informant) but is worth a look.

Could this be him?

Died 1959   DOCHERTY   WILLIAM           M   Age 61   GREENOCK   /RENFREW   564/00 0432

If so is worth putting some credits on Scotland's People to get that cert.

thanks 4 all your help with william  now looking 4 family of alexander his brother found out he died in 1964  that about the same time i was born  so hoping  he has son or daughters or grandkids  looking up family tree cheers

Hi Andy
as he died outside the dates for viewing his death cert online
you would need to either go to a registry office or Scotlands People centre (cheaper of the two)
to view the cert,
that would let you know if he married
and the informant on that may be a son or a daughter hopefully,
doing a general search on SP there is only one Alexander Docherty married between 1914 and 1930
in Greenock, will see if I can work out Brides name

william and alexander where brothers  could this be the missing link alex married margaret fulton in 1915 i also think one of the family links this lady name is mary perry  mayhave been one of his nieces
